These are records of the Odd Fellows Lodge at Edgar Springs, later (1936) at Rolla, in Phellps county, Missouri. Included are minute books, membership records, roll of officers, abstracts of semi-annual reports to the Grand Lodge of Missouri, a visitors register, and a letter concerning consolidation with the lodge at St. James, Missouri. Until 1948, the chapter was known as Spring Creek Lodge No. 416, after which it became Rolla Lodge No. 416.

The James Memorial Public Library Photograph Collection contains negative copies of photographs brought to the library in St. James by residence who lived in town and the surrounding area. The original images date from the 1870s to the 1990s and include family portraits, city scenes, local businesses, area schools, events, parades, weddings, and church activities among many others. The majority of the photographs are from Phelps County with representation from Crawford and Dent counties.

The William Henry Lynch Papers contain microfilm copies of the diaries and personal papers of an educator in southern Missouri. Lynch was a native of Houston, Texas County, Missouri. He served in the 32nd Missouri Infantry during the Civil War, and was principal of schools in Steelville, St. James, Salem, West Plains, and Mountain Grove, Missouri, following the war.

These are reports, maps, and other papers written and collected by Edward Dale Lynton, a mining engineer and geologist. They deal mostly with petroleum exploration in the United States, although there are also data concerning mineral exploration and exploitation in North Africa, South America, and Europe. Lynton was an early proponent of magnetometry in the search for mineral deposits, and these papers include results of tests in California, Texas, Wyoming, and Venezuela.

Owens, quartermaster for the Phelps’s Regiment while stationed at Rolla, Lebanon, and Springfield, Missouri in 1862. The accounts include records of receipt and issue of food, forage, clothing and camp equipage, lists of civilians employed by the army, and notes on wagon trains in quartermaster service.
