Turnbo. The collection also includes a large selection of promotional publications and ephemera associated with late 20th century tourism in Missouri and Arkansas.

She corresponded with members of these organizations and with former soldiers.

The diary covers duty in Missouri, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Texas, July 26, 1862 through circa April 15, 1865. Included are descriptions of service in the Army of Southeastern Missouri, the Vicksburg Campaign, including the battles of Port Gibson, Champion’s Hill, Big Black River Bridge, and Milliken’s Bend, and furlough and medical leave in Iowa.

A rancher, politician, and Spanish-American War veteran he compiled materials on the Missouri Immigration Society, the State Fruit Experiment Station, the 'Good Roads' movement, relocation of the state capitol, Fruitville Farm, and the proposed village of Torreytown, and the campaign for the United States Senate in 1918.
