The Bill Brush Lantern Slide Collection consists mainly of glass lantern slides dating from approximately 1890 to 1970 which provide a visual record of St. Louis and the surrounding area. The slides came from St. Louis Public Schools, Schwarz Taxidermy Studio, and the St. Louis Naturalists Club. Highlights include images of steamships such as the Admiral and the Robert E. Lee, the 1904 World’s Fair, the St. Louis Zoo, and historic buildings in St. Louis. Both photographic images and drawings are used in the slides, and some slides are title cards. Contained with boxes located off-site are images pertaining to major events in United States and world history. Also included are 35mm film slides, and small number of nitrate film photographic negatives.

The Leslie Leroy Buckley Papers consists of photocopied biographical material about the life of Leslie LeRoy Bucklew. The collection features correspondence between Bucklew and soldiers he served with during the Spanish-American War and World War I, and letters from President Harry S Truman and Bess Truman. Other materials of interest include 1917 photographs of World War I servicemen serving at Camp Doniphan and Fort Sill. The collection also contains two oral history interviews of Bucklew recounting his childhood in St. Louis, his mother's friendship with Mary Todd Lincoln's sister, and his experiences in the Spanish-American War.

Throughout his career as an educator, Buckner served in various position in St. Louis City Public Schools: Sumner High School Faculty (1943-1960, 1964-1968); Sumner principal (1968-1971); Supervisor of secondary education, St. Louis Public Schools (1960-1964); and curriculum specialist for city schools (1971-1977). The papers contain minutes, reports, financial statements, high school yearbooks, and photographs documenting Buckner's activities in educational, civic, and fraternal organizations.

This collection contains the records of the St. Louis Bureau for Men, the first agency in the United States to provide social services to transient and homeless men. The collection is a combination of the Bureau's administrative files and the professional files of two of its four directors, Isaac Gurman and Charles Mann. The records document the founding of the Bureau until its demise in 1982 and the change of its focus from beggars, transients, and homeless men in the 1930s to ex-convicts in the 1950s-1980s.

James T. Bush Sr. began working in the real estate business in the 1920s and was instrumental in establishing the Real Estate Brokers Association of St. Louis in 1946. Reverend David V. Bush presided over the Memorial Congressional Church in St. Louis between 1917 and 1921. The church, known as the church with the "revolving, flaming cross" fixed on top of the building, was located at the corner of Victoria and Graham. According to a field report from 1918, the average congregation attendance was 121 people. Most of this collection contains correspondence from dated from 1917 to 1921 regarding everyday congregational matters, such as finances and the church community.

St. Louis-area Businessmen opposed to the Vietnam War founded the St. Louis chapter of Business Executives Move for Vietnam Peace in January 1968 to protest American involvement in Vietnam. The chapter lobbied Congress, organized conferences, letter writing campaigns, and speakers to protest American involvement in Vietnam. The collection includes correspondence with speakers and other peace groups, membership lists, memoranda, newsclippings, newsletters, petitions and speeches.

The Daniel Aloysius Byrne Papers contain photographs, military registration cards, and a diary pertaining to Byrne’s early life and service in the United States Army during World War I. A St. Louis native, Daniel Aloysius Byrne (1891-1976) served in Company B, 114th Field Signal Battalion, 39th Infantry Division, primarily overseeing telephone exchanges in France after the November 11 armistice. Materials of interest include Byrne’s diary, which documents his experiences training at Camps Pike and Beauregard; encountering German submarines while crossing the Atlantic Ocean onboard the U.S.S. DeKalb; and witnessing air battles between American and German forces near Ippecourt, France.

Twenty-two carpenters met on December 8, 1871, to form the St. Louis Cabinet Makers' Protective Union. The following year they affiliated with the International Cabinet Makers' Union of America, becoming Local 12. In 1903 the local became part of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America as Local 1596. The collection includes records of other unions that joined Local 1596. Early volumes are in German.
