Arnett claimed to have reported on Federal troop strength to General M. Jeff Thompson before the battle.

The W. Harry Barron Collection contains a typescript copy of a letter by Dr. W. Harry Barron to Ruth Berry, October 27, 1946, concerning the history of Mine La Motte in Madison County, Missouri. After a brief autobiographical paragraph, Barron sketched the history of the village and its various mining enterprises, noted buildings and some of the physical features, and wrote briefly of the social life of the community. Barron was a physician who practiced medicine in Madison County for most of his life, also the unofficial historian of Mine La Motte.

Gabriel, the business was based in Poplar Bluff and did business in Butler and Stoddard Counties. The ledger includes accounts receivable, lists of payments for ties, and expense accounts.

Lorena Shell Eaker transcribed family Bible records provided to her by several families in southeast Missouri and North Carolina. These records were used to compile her two-volume work The Shoe Cobbler’s Kin, A Genealogy of the Peter (Ecker) Eaker, Sr. Family (1701-1976). These papers include both hand-written transcriptions and photocopies of the original Bible records. Also included is the marriage record and sermon notes for Presbyterian minister William G. Peyton of Piedmont, Missouri. Additionally, there are reprints of photographs of the Miller, Penzel and related families.
