Bernard F. Dickmann was the mayor of St. Louis (1933-1941). This collection documents Bernard F. Dickmann tenure as mayor of St. Louis from 1933 to 1941. The photographs include images of visiting dignitaries, groundbreaking for St. Louis Landmarks, the Mayor's Christmas party, and conventions held in St. Louis. The collection also contains a scrapbook of the Missouri exhibition at the 1939 Worlds Fair in New York.

The papers of Geoffrey Wade Donnan contain correspondence, family histories, photographs, scrapbooks, and newspaper clippings relating to Geoffrey Wade Donnan’s research on the Donnan, Wessel, Schaefer, and Coe families. Throughout his research, Donnan collected and maintained his relative’s papers, including his parent’s, Dwight and Gloria Donnan, correspondence, which constitutes the bulk of the collection. Materials of interest include Dwight’s letters to Gloria during World War II, in which he served as a staff sergeant in the 255th Infantry Regiment, 63rd Infantry Division. Dwight recounts to Gloria crossing the Rhine River into Germany, as well as encountering German prisoners of war. The collection also contains a digital component, approximately 473 gigabytes of digitized family photographs, census records, and death certificates. Included in the digital materials are oral history interviews Geoffrey Donnan conducted with Dwight Donnan on the history of the Donnan family. The materials in this collection date from 1854 to 2015.

Thomas Anthony Dooley was a physician, naval officer, and humanitarian. He assisted with the evacuation of refugees from Vietnam in 1954-55, established hospitals in Laos and Vietnam in 1956, and was the co-founder of the Medical International Cooperation Organization (MEDICO), which helped build and train staff for hospitals in foreign countries, specifically Southeast Asia. The collection includes book manuscripts, correspondence, newspaper clippings, audio and videotapes, scrapbooks, and photographs.

Downtown St. Louis, Inc. was founded in 1958 by a group of St. Louis businessmen who were interested in the revitalization of downtown St. Louis. In the late fifties and early sixties, many sizeable suburban shopping centers were constructed in all areas of St. Louis County, which took away much of the commercial shopping and entertainment business from downtown St. Louis. Many businesses left the area, and large blocs of office space were empty. The papers consist of newsletters (1958-1974); subject files of correspondence, reports, maps and news releases; and photographs of some of the promotions arranged by Downtown St. Louis, Inc.

This collection contains legal materials, reports, and newspaper clippings documenting the hazards posed by dumping nuclear waste in the town of Hematite in Jefferson City, Missouri. Mallinckrodt Chemical Works built a commercial uranium-fuel processing plant in Hematite in 1956 that the company used to produce nuclear fuel rod assemblies for commercial power plants. The plant closed in 2001.

This collection consists of correspondence, reports, and subject files concerning nuclear technology and radioactive waste sites connected to Mallinckrodt Chemical Works. Mallinckrodt developed a chemical process that led to the first nuclear chain reaction in 1942 and until 1966 processed uranium for nuclear weapons at plants in downtown St. Louis and Weldon Springs. The company dumped radioactive wastes at sites in St. Louis County.
