Includes a scrapbook related to theater and other activities at the University of Missouri in the 1930s, correspondence, diaries, photographs, travel materials, writings, and miscellaneous items.

He was a CBS regional vice president and general manager of the radio station KMOX in St. Louis, Missouri, for four decades. Hyland was also a civic leader, serving on the boards of the St. Louis Regional Commerce and Growth Association, Downtown St. Louis, Lindenwood College Board.
