Also included in the collection is a book, '"Then We Went to Powhatton's" Evelyn May Whitcomb McGregor Diaries 1892-1947,' which contains complete transcripts of the diaries.

Other materials in the collection document her work with Vietnamese orphanages, as well as various aspects of both her personal and professional life, including a return trip to Vietnam in 1995 with her adopted daughter.

The collection contains journals written by a day laborer, who was born in 1876 in Holt's Summit, Callaway County, Missouri, and later resided in Columbia, Missouri. McManaway writes about his friends, neighbors, and people from church, as well as makes notes on the weather, gardening, and daily activities. He lived with his sister Maggie, who is mentioned often. McManaway also intersperses his journal entries with repeatedly copied quotes, aphorisms, and verses, such as "The good fairy can not beat this," "Who runs may read," and "Cleanliness is next to godliness," among many others. It is unclear whether these lines and phrases are penmanship exercises or if they were used as a means of self-improvement.
