The collection includes correspondence with speakers and other peace groups, membership lists, memoranda, newsclippings, newsletters, petitions and speeches.

Labor for Peace was a voluntary organization of trade union leaders who joined together in 1972 to bring an end to the war in Vietnam. 985 delegates from 32 states and the District of Columbia attended the founding conference in St. Louis, Missouri, on June 23-24, 1972. The delegates represented 35 international unions and issued a statement of policy that outlined their perspective of the effects of the war on America. They demanded immediate withdrawal from Vietnam and a peace-oriented economy. The records include correspondence, memos, reports, a policy statement, and newspaper clippings.

James Henry (Jimmy) Rollins was a black civil rights activist and University of Missouri law student who was convicted of dispensing marijuana in 1968, jumped bail to avoid prosecution and was subsequently caught and imprisoned in 1974 for that and other crimes. The papers consist primarily of letters from the imprisoned Rollins to one of his supporters, and of notes, newspaper clippings, case files, and other printed material related either to his case or to contemporary political and racial conditions in Columbia and at the University of Missouri.

The Center also provided draft counseling to conscientious objectors opposed to the war in Vietnam. Subjects of interest include anti-Vietnam protests in the St. Louis area, war tax resistance, and laws and regulations regarding draft counseling. The bulk of the materials date from the Center’s founding in 1967 to its closing in 1974.
