A native of Kirkwood, Missouri, Barbara McDonnell (1947- ) began her professional photography career in 1994, producing platinum and palladium prints depicting suburban and urban subjects, still lives, and landscapes. Her artwork has appeared in the Museum of Contemporary Photography, Chicago's Midwest Photographers Project, and the Sheldon Art Galleries.
