This collection consists of fourteen black and white photographs loaned for copying by Carolyn Parry Tilford. The photographs include images common to rural and agricultural life from early 1900 to the 1920s such as a barn-raising, church construction, cattle and mules, steam-powered farm equipment, and a gasoline-powered sawmill. Most of the images are from the Elk Prairie neighborhood of Phelps County, but there are also three views of cattle ranching at the Rhinehart Ranch in Shannon County. Rhinehart Ranch, also known as Spring valley Ranch, is located northwest of Eminence in Shannon County, Missouri. It was most active 1900-1924. the property is listed on the National Register of Historic Places for its agricultural and architectural significance.

The St. Louis County Court incorporated Pasadena Hills in 1843. The Stifel Company was the first property owner in Pasadena Hills: Carter Realty became the second. A Board of Trustees was implemented in 1949, after Pasadena Hills incorporated into a village. The board is responsible for Pasadena Hills' laws and ordinances. The Pasadena Hills Records include correspondence, legal records, news clippings, maps, architecture drawings, and reports.

In December 1941, Lt. j.g. John W. Payne was stationed in the Philippines commanding the U.S.S. Isabel, a yacht converted to a destroyer. When Manila Harbor was attacked by Japanese forces, the Isabel along with the remains of the U.S. fleet, eventually retreated to Australia. Engineer officer Daniel P. Griffin compiled this 60 page reminiscence to honor his commanding officer upon Payne's death in a plane collision over the Grand Canyon in 1956.
