The Nuclear Weapons Freeze Campaign Records document the anti-nuclear movement that spread throughout the United States during the 1970s and 1980s as a result of the hostile relations between the United States and Russia. This collection includes correspondence, meeting minutes, publications, proposals, financial reports, and news clippings related to Freeze’s efforts in spreading a message of peace and a bilateral cessation of nuclear weapons manufacturing. Much of this collection is also focused on Freeze’s political involvement and their moves to elect representatives and a president in office that supported their cause.

Kate O’Hare’s letters to her family, April 20, 1919, to April 8, 1920, published in newspapers, and reproduced in book form April 14, 1920. O’Hare, a Socialist reformer, wrote the letters from the Missouri State Penitentiary, where she served a 14-month term for opposing the draft for World War I. They acknowledge gifts and letters, and discuss the Socialist movement, diseases, prison food, heat and ventilation, and mental disturbances of inmates.

He later became Illinois state commander of Disabled American Veterans. The papers include an emergency war-time teaching certificate of his wife Catherine Oakes and correspondence with political figures Otto Kerner and John F. Kennedy.
