Papers of a women's organization dedicated to providing the poor and unemployed with necessities if employment could not be found. This was accomplished in part through the donation of money to various St. Louis charities. The papers include correspondence, minutes of special and annual meetings, and treasurer's reports.

The collection contains a diary written in 1872 by Maggie Jenkins of Brookfield, Missouri, as well as letters from her sister, Carrie Kittinger of Buffalo, New York. Also includes a letter from Samuel Cherry to Maranda Haney, letters from Sarah A. Mason and members of the Myers family, and letters to William M. Jenkins from single women he contacted through magazines.

The collection contains the diaries of a Mound City, Missouri, farmer who sold his farm and moved to Corning, Kansas, in 1902. He sold his Kansas farm and moved to Macon, Missouri, in 1903. Diaries include cash accounts and memoranda for the ten-year period 1899-1908.

The William A. McCanse Papers consist of two items: an agreement for the “valuation and division…of negroes,” 1856, and a letter from Jeremiah McKanse, a former slave, of Olathe, Kansas, to William McCanse, 1868.

The John H. Pattrick Papers include photographs and miscellaneous material related to Pattrick's experiences while stationed in France during World War I, as well as correspondence and scrapbooks documenting his life and the lives of his family before and after the war. An extensive postcard and greeting card collection, which belonged to his daughter, is also included.

The records of the Evangelical Bethel Congregation consist of minutes of congregational meetings, church constitutions, membership lists, and other church records. Recorded primarily in German, an English translation of the records is included in the collection. These records are part of the German Heritage Archives.
