Diary of a soldier from Edwardsville, IL, who served in the 10th Illinois Infantry. Record of daily action in Mississippi, Alabama, and Tennessee, 1862; attack on Atlanta, GA; and mustering out, 1864. Miscellaneous entries and accounts, 1866-1867.

Diary of trip with 1st Regiment of the Illinois Volunteer Infantry from Fort Leavenworth to Santa Fe, NM. Served as acting assistant surgeon to the Illinois Regiment in Santa Fe during the Mexican War.

Lindsey was a member of Company K, 2nd Illinois Cavalry, during the Civil War. Account of camp life in Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama; a few skirmishes; and his trip back to Illinois after being mustered out.

An eight weeks' diary kept by a sixteen-year-old boy named Salisbury on a train trip from the East to Topeka, KS. He spent most of the time visiting relatives in Salisbury, Kansas City, Glasgow, Keytesville, and St. Louis.

Diary of a trip from LaGrange, MO, to the California gold fields. Route; condition of grass, water and wood; prices of articles on the way. Entries also mention number of miles traveled, streams and rivers crossed, graves, other wagon trains, weather conditions, and seeing Indians. Describes Salt Lake City.

Account of a trip to Pike's Peak, 18 April to 6 July 1859; and a trip to the Cherokee country, 25 February to 12 March 1860.

Written to his cousin by an infantryman during World War I, the letter describes one of his battle experiences.
