The William Henry Lynch Papers contain microfilm copies of the diaries and personal papers of an educator in southern Missouri. Lynch was a native of Houston, Texas County, Missouri. He served in the 32nd Missouri Infantry during the Civil War, and was principal of schools in Steelville, St. James, Salem, West Plains, and Mountain Grove, Missouri, following the war.

The John P. Sheahan Papers contain a microfilm copy of letters written during World War II by John P. Sheahan Jr. to his wife, Grace. Sheahan served with the 2306th Quartermaster Service Company, training at camps in California, Florida, and Virginia. He died at Slapton Sands in the English Channel on April 28, 1944.

The Beverly A. Davis Papers contain a Civil War letter written by a member of the 32nd Missouri Infantry at Rouse’s Plantation, North Carolina, to his niece, Ellen, at Steelville, Missouri. Davis commented on the capture of Richmond, Virginia, and the prospects for peace.

The Flat River Woman’s Club Records include microfilm copies of record books, minutes of meetings, a scrapbook, and miscellaneous papers of a woman’s club in St. Francois County, Missouri. The charitable and civic group was begun in 1907 as the Mothers and Patrons Club of Flat River. The club disbanded in 1953.

The Franz Adelmann Records contain a microfilm copy of an account ledger of a general store operated by Franz Adelmann at Salem in Dent County, Missouri. Adelmann, a native of Bavaria, came to Salem, Missouri in 1862 and engaged in the mercantile business until his death in 1875. The ledger is indexed.

The Konenszewski Family Papers contains photocopies of baptismal and educational certificates, medical records, and immigration papers of Johann Konenszewski and his sons, Ladislaus and Edmund. There is also a Civil War letter by Lieutenant Edmund Konenszewski, November 1861, and a diary by Major Ladislaus Konenszewski, February-July 1862. Both men served in the 26th Missouri Infantry in General John Pope’s Army of the Mississippi.

The volume also includes records of expenses for dances held by the Pickwick Club and the Marquis Orchestra, 1911-1913, and the minutes of meetings of the “Republicans of West Plains,” 1912.

The collection includes correspondence with shipping agents and commission merchants, ledgers of expense and sales, and smelter records. It also includes a roster of Company I of the 32nd Missouri from June 1863 to May 1864.

The Jay Linn Torrey Scrapbook contains materials compiled by Jay Torrey of Howell County, Missouri. A rancher, politician, and Spanish-American War veteran he compiled materials on the Missouri Immigration Society, the State Fruit Experiment Station, the 'Good Roads' movement, relocation of the state capitol, Fruitville Farm, and the proposed village of Torreytown, and the campaign for the United States Senate in 1918.

Wright worked in the mill at Tuscumbia and as a clerk aboard the company towboat Ruth. The diary entries note events in Miller County and along the Osage River, weather and river conditions, and the milling company business.

L. Tolman and his wife, Margaret Frances "Fanny" Evans (1840-1921). Included are letters

pensions, and a collection of stories concerning the early settlers of St. Francois County.

There are also correspondence concerning his military pension and genealogical data.

This collection includes correspondence, business records, and legal papers, and genealogical information pertaining to two early families of Cape Girardeau County, Missouri. The Ellis family came from Georgia about 1805; the Ranneys from Indiana about 1825. Other names represented in the collection are Beckham, Cobb, Giboney, Ogle, Waters, and Wathen (Warthen-Worthan).

The photographs in the collection have been copied on 35mm negatives and slides.
