The photographs include images common to rural and agricultural life from early 1900 to the 1920s such as a barn-raising, church construction, cattle and mules, steam-powered farm equipment, and a gasoline-powered sawmill. Most of the images are from the Elk Prairie neighborhood of Phelps County, but there are also three views of cattle ranching at the Rhinehart Ranch in Shannon County. Rhinehart Ranch, also known as Spring valley Ranch, is located northwest of Eminence in Shannon County, Missouri. It was most active 1900-1924. the property is listed on the National Register of Historic Places for its agricultural and architectural significance. |
