The papers contain photographs of the 4th Missouri Infantry Machine Gun Company of the National Guard during their service along the Mexican border in Laredo, Texas, in 1916. Sidney B. Phillips served with the 4th Missouri Infantry from 1916-1918. The papers also include army manuals issued to soldiers in 1913 and 1941.

The correspondence of Herbert Douglas, 1943 president and historian of the Missouri Association of Republicans, regards the history of the Association of Young Republicans of Missouri.

A collaborative project between the State Historical Society of Missouri and the Missouri Humanities Council, this collection emphasizes the past and present influence of German heritage in Missouri, including historic sites, past people, notable conflicts, religious influence, agriculture, music, art, and architecture. The German Heritage Corridor will focus on the counties north and south of the Missouri River, from St. Charles and St. Louis, to Chariton, Saline, and Lafayette. This corridor includes several distinct German communities, including New Melle, Herman, Dutzow, and Westphalia.

C4355 International Women of Columbia (Mo.) Records 1965-1992

Records of a women's organization dedicated to assisting foreign women living in Columbia, Missouri. Generally, women who were wives of husbands working at the University or attending the University, but also for women who were working at or attending the University themselves. The organization provided help which included English language assistance, various social events, child care, advice on renting an apartment, opening a bank account, obtaining a driver's license, and tips on shopping at local stores. The organization provided hostesses, many of whom were also from other countries, but had been in the U.S awhile, to assist foreign women living in Columbia.

Sean Rost serves as the Oral Historian for the State Historical Society of Missouri and the Missouri Humanities Council. He started this position in January 2018. The images in this collection were taken during Rost's travels throughout the state on oral history projects and on personal time.

Correspondence, newsletters, notes, research material, papers, proposal, and publications of a committee of professors who undertook a Missouri Place Name Survey, building largely on the work of Professor of English Robert L. Ramsay, whose students compiled a survey of Missouri places in the 1930s. The survey was intended to produce a dictionary of Missouri place names.

C4392 John T. Nichols Papers 1862-1865, 1964

Civil War diary (3 April 1863-10 May 1865) written in poetry form by a Confederate soldier from Boone County who served with Company I, 2nd Volunteers, 6th Regiment, Missouri Infantry. Nichols was assigned to hospital duty in the Meridian, Mississippi, area. Collection also includes a partial transcription of the diary and copies of a photograph of Nichols and his military papers.
