The papers of Jesse E. Wrench, a University of Missouri history professor, include teaching materials, correspondence, and records of organizations with which Wrench was involved in at the university and in Columbia, Missouri. The papers also include some family papers and photographs and two unpublished manuscripts from the Cornell Expedition to Asia Minor in 1907-1908.

The papers of the Tayloe Family contain personal letters and business papers of the John R. Tayloe family of Bem and Owensville, MO. The collection includes correspondence to John R. Tayloe, his sons John L. and William L. Tayloe, and his wife Lizzie Miller Tayloe from relatives and friends concerning family affairs, farming, and teaching. Some business papers are also included.

The papers of Earl F. Nelson contain personal, political, and business correspondence, insurance data, tax records, ledgers, and journals, including correspondence, reports, and financial statements dealing with work as a member of the board of curators. Also included are papers of Edna Nelson dealing with estate matters.

The records of the University of Missouri Cooperative Extension Service contain materials relating to the activities of the Co-Operative Extension Service, including the training and supervision of county extension workers, services performed, planning and management of extension program, and conferences on extension work. Materials include newsletters, circulars, bulletins, reports, studies, correspondence, and a history of the University of Missouri College of Agriculture.

The records of the University of Missouri Agricultural Extension Service contain histories, letters, reports, memoranda, speeches, maps, publications, newspaper articles, and pictures concerning Missouri Agricultural Extension Service and U.S. Department of Agriculture policies; agricultural, home economics, and 4-H extension work; and the College of Agriculture.

The papers of the Greater Kansas City Central Labor Council of the AFL-CIO contain the minutes of the Central Labor Council, miscellaneous copies of letters, resolutions, and notices.

The records of the University of Missouri Department of Anatomy contain departmental papers and correspondence with other departments, colleges, and university officials.

The collection contains a photostat of a letter to C.A. Harris, Bureau of Indian Affairs, from Cherokee Agency East, Jan. 25, 1838. Townsend describes his journey as attending physician to a band of emigrant Cherokees from Cherokee Agency East to Cherokee Nation West, a distance of 800 miles.

The records of the University of Missouri Department of Veterinary Physiology and Pharmacology contain correspondence concerning department business and procedures, research, equipment, staff, graduate program, applicants for graduate study, expanding department, conventions, recommendations, and American Society of Veterinary Physiologists and Pharmacologists.

The collection contains audio tapes of Ozark folklore collected by Max F. Hunter, including fiddle tunes, jokes, sayings, songs, visits, and miscellaneous material. The collection also includes lists, transcripts of songs, synopses, and indexes to the tapes.

The records of the Smith and Longview Dam and Reservoir contain National Architectural and Engineering Record/Historic American Buildings Survey photographs, field records, historical and descriptive data, maps, and drawings of historic architectural structures at the Smithville and Longview Lakes, MO. Included are Longview Farm, Rockford School, James Poff and Sophia Rollins residences, Reuben Ross barn, and Waddell "A" truss bridge.

The records of the University of Missouri Bookstore contain correspondence, memoranda, and notes concerning the operation of the University of Missouri Bookstore. Accounts, budget estimates, thefts, profits, insurance, taxes, and retention of records are discussed.

Interview with Puchta, a resident of Hermann, MO. Puchta discusses his early life, German ancestry, wine making, local customs and leisure activities, and transportation. Of note are his descriptions of photographs from the Edward Kemper Collection at WHMC-Columbia (Accession No. 4633).

Records of Collins' service in the 2nd regiment, Missouri Volunteer Cavalry, Merrill's Horse, Company E. There are also applications of Collins and his wife Emily C. Collins for Civil War pensions.

The papers of the Jones Family contain military papers of Charles A. Adams, a Civil War officer in the Vermont Cavalry Volunteers and father of state representative Charles F. Adams and Carrie Adams Jones. Also included are family land deeds and business transactions.

The papers of William Bourke Cockran primarily contain letters to Congressman William Bourke Cockran from Moreton Frewen, Irish member of Parliament, concerning politics in Ireland and the U.S., 1895-1915, and the first years of World War I. Also included are newspaper articles about Irish politics.

The papers of Nathaniel Leonard, a stock breeder and farmer from Cooper County, Missouri, and his family consist of land papers, account and other record books, correspondence, Civil War papers, an 1824 fur memorandum, and an 1875 diary of Lon V. Stephens.

The papers of James Mercer Garnett contain letters between Garnett and John Randolph of Roanoke (1773-1833), concerning politics, government, agriculture, and family affairs. Originals are in the Alderman Library, University of Virginia.

The collection contains an architectural history of the original building of Christian Female College (later Christian College, then Columbia College), Columbia, MO.

The papers of Winterton Conway Curtis contain correspondence, reprints, autobiographical notes, photographs and miscellaneous material of a University of Missouri professor of zoology and dean of the College of Arts and Science. Also included is professional correspondence, 1904-1911, of George Lefevre, professor of zoology at the University of Missouri.

The collection contains the papers of Dwight H. Brown, Missouri secretary of state, 1932-1944. The papers are arranged alphabetically by topics.

Primarily of genealogical interest, the collection contains genealogical correspondence and information about the Breckenridges (Breckinridges) and related families, documents, pamphlets, letters, deeds, and photos. The papers were compiled by James M. Breckenridge between 1900 and 1950. See f. 1 for detailed inventory of collection.

The papers of the Missouri Chapter of the Society of the Sigma Xi contain membership materials; announcements and materials from national headquarters; correspondence and official material pertaining to local chapter business; and correspondence and announcements concerning lectures sponsored by the Society.

The records of the University of Missouri Graduate School contain correspondence with other universities on various aspects of administration, teaching, degree programs, financial aid, and accrediting procedures; interdepartmental correspondence; and information relating specifically to cooperative intercollegiate activities, such as MASUA (Mid-America State University Association), Title IV Program, and Commission on Higher Education.

The papers of Sara Lockwood Williams and Walter Williams; material on their journalistic careers; and information on the founding of the University of Missouri School of Journalism and Walter Williams' presidency of the University, 1931-1935.

Homer Croy, a Missouri native, was the author of numerous books, short stories, plays and articles. The collection contains research and manuscripts for published and unpublished work, business and personal correspondence, financial records, contracts, photographs, and scrapbooks.

The papers of Charles C. Isely contain correspondence; articles published in various newspapers and magazines; materials from campaign in the Kansas senatorial primary of 1932; manuscripts of books, articles, and poetry; and miscellaneous photographs and graphs.

Papers of a Kansas City attorney. Records of action relating to the trucking industry, labor disputes, bill collection and bankruptcy, damage suits, divorce cases, patent cases, and estates. Some papers pertaining to local Democratic politics, Boy Scouts, and Country Club Congregational Church.

The records of the Columbia Business and Professional Women's Club contain presidents' and secretaries' files, minutes, histories, yearbooks, committee records, photographs, memorabilia, and scrapbooks of the Columbia Business and Professional Women's Club; as well as some scattered materials from regional, state, and national instances of the Business and Professional Women's Club.

The papers of William L. Bradshaw contain business and personal papers of Bradshaw, political scientist and dean of the University of Missouri Business School, 1946-1961. Included are papers as a delegate to the Missouri Constitutional Convention, 1943-1944, member of the State Reorganization Commission, 1953-1955, and involvement in other state, local, and professional organizations.

The records of the Missouri Lumber and Mining Company contain Correspondence, minutes of board of directors' meetings, and financial and operating records of a Grandin, MO, land and lumber company, which operated in Butler, Carter, Reynolds, Ripley and Wayne Counties.

The Dwight Ruby Garrett collection contains papers and photographs of Garrett, a Kansas City, MO, lawyer. Garrett commanded the 117th Field Signal Battalion, 42nd (Rainbow) Division, U.S. Army, American Expeditionary Force. The collection concentrates on his World War I and postwar veterans activities. The clipping scrapbook is on microfilm.

The Missouri Rural Area Development Committee, directed by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, was designed to coordinate efforts to revitalize agricultural and natural resources in the rural areas.

The papers of William McClung Paxton contain letters concerning the Paxton and Marshall families, including letters to George Forman of New Orleans, Paxton's brother-in-law, and to Paxton from members of the Marshall family containing genealogical information for his book, THE MARSHALL FAMILY (1885).

The papers of John C. Weaver contain correspondence, lists of delegates and guests, programs, and bulletins prepared for the inauguration of Weaver as the fourteenth president of the University of Missouri, April 1967.

The collection contains diaries detailing a trip taken by ox train in 1864 from Cole County, MO, to Virginia City, MT. Also chronicled, although to a lesser extent, is the return trip by steamboat down the Missouri River in 1866. Diaries also include drafts of letters, notes, and lists of students. A typescript of the diaries, plus photos of some of the sites along the route taken in 1961, complete the collection.
